Missions & Outreach

Part of the vision for our transitional living program is to create opportunities for women to grow in their faith and in their service of others. This starts with volunteering in our community and expands into ministry involvement, and overseas mission trips for eligible graduates.

For women who have lived with addiction, opportunities to serve in the community help them think differently about their lives and develop a heart for service. This can include sorting and boxing food for Associated Churches, meal packing at St. Michael’s Church, participating in the Great American Cleanup, planting seedlings for Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, and more.

Each year, our ladies delight in packing shoe box gifts for Operation Christmas Child! Exposing our women to the desperate need in the world helps them recognize how blessed they are, and also introduces them to ways they can make an impact. It’s a joy to see them planning and shopping for shoe box gifts that are used by pastors as an introduction to the Gospel. The joy at our packing party is palpable!

As our ministry has matured, and Jerry and Vini Westfall, who served as missionaries in the Dominican Republic, joined our staff, plans for the culmination of a larger dream began to take shape. After having a mission experience in Cambodia in 2015, Tomi envisioned an opportunity for RH graduates to go deeper in their faith walk by participating in an overseas mission experience.

In 2023, the Westfalls led the first Redemption House mission team to the Dominican Republic, where they served a local community and hosted a volleyball camp. For RH graduate Tina Poignard, the experiences of immersion in a new culture and sharing her faith were life changing.

Future trips will give RH staff, graduates and partners the opportunity to expand their world view, serve in Christ’s name, and worship alongside Christian brothers and sisters in a new culture!

We are planning our second trip to the Dominican Republic in June 2024. Here are some ways you can get involved:

1. Pray for our team’s safety, and that our visit glorifies God, brings joy and hope to our Dominican brothers and sisters, and that our team members grow in compassion and love for others.
2. Host a fundraiser for our trip!
3. Collect items we can take with us (we will be specific about our needs once we confirm our travel dates and mission plans).
4. Prayerfully consider joining our team!
